The American fitness influencer Connor Murphy reportedly injected liquid gold before his death in Thailand, with friends saying he believed it could sharpen his mind, boost his body and unlock “superhuman” abilities. The claims come from multiple interviews and posts published after he drowned near Bangkok, while Thai authorities have not medically confirmed the gold-injection allegations.

Murphy, born in Texas and known for his large online following and “looksmaxxing” content, drowned after police were called to reports that he was acting erratically at a luxury housing estate in Samut Prakan, just south of Bangkok. According to the report, he ran from police, jumped into a lake more than 10 metres deep, and later disappeared underwater before rescue divers recovered his body about 20 minutes later.

#### What friends said

A friend and fellow looksmaxxer, identified as Androgenic, said Murphy had developed a fixation on gold and believed it was a “gatekept mineral” that could open higher states of consciousness and other dimensions if ingested. The report says Murphy also described the experience as “mind blowing” and wrote in messages that he had injected about 300ml over several days and was planning to use an IV for more efficient delivery.

TMZ separately quoted Murphy’s former roommate and close friend Tony Huge, who said Murphy used gold to change the colour of his skin and chase “superhuman” traits. Huge said he had warned Murphy about the practice, but believed the metal may have altered his mindset and pushed him toward extreme behaviour tied to his looksmaxxing and content creation.

#### Police and forensic details

The Nightly report says Thai police found two unused syringes in Murphy’s car and unidentified white pills in his bag, while the rental house where he had been staying was heavily vandalised with paint splashed across walls and appliances. It also reports that a local outlet said the house had been damaged before Murphy entered the lake.

Androgenic also claimed Murphy had been planning a documentary on looksmaxxing and biohacking, and in another account said Murphy had discussed faking his death days before he died. Those claims remain unverified, and the Thai forensic process is still expected to determine the cause of death and whether any toxic substances were involved.

#### Why gold injections were used

Gold injections were once used in medicine for rheumatoid arthritis, but that treatment largely fell out of favour because of side effects. Modern medical sources say gold injections are no longer commonly used, which is why experts warn strongly against trying to inject gold outside a controlled medical setting.
