Passengers on an EasyJet flight from Montenegro to London Luton say they were left stranded for more than 24 hours at Tivat Airport, with one traveler accusing the airline of abandoning customers during a chaotic delay.

Retired psychology lecturer Ron Roberts, 70, said he spent more than a day waiting at the airport after his flight was repeatedly delayed, describing the situation as “absolute chaos” and saying travelers were left without food or water.

Dr. Roberts said the flight was due to depart at 12.40pm on Saturday, but by the following afternoon he was still waiting for updates as passengers remained stuck at the terminal.

He claimed the airport became increasingly crowded overnight and said people were ordered out of the terminal when it was closing, even though they had been told accommodation nearby was already fully booked.

“We were all thrown out of the airport ... forced to sleep in the street,” he said.

He added that passengers were told to arrange their own accommodation and travel, despite the lack of hotel availability in the area.

According to Dr. Roberts, some passengers later returned to the airport after it reopened, only to find more people waiting in a corridor near departures for news about the flight.

He described the terminal as unsafe and overcrowded, saying the conditions were so packed that it was “suffocating” and “dangerously unhealthy”.

Dr. Roberts also said he had seen another traveler collapse and claimed medical staff were called but did not act.

He said one man in the terminal told passengers he was on stage four cancer, adding to what he described as a worsening and distressing scene.

In his account, Dr. Roberts said he believed the situation showed a lack of care and support, and he warned that his own health was being put at risk.

EasyJet said the delay to flight EZY2638 from Tivat to London Luton began after the aircraft experienced a bird strike on a previous flight.

The airline said the departure was then delayed further because of air traffic control restrictions.

EasyJet said it had tried to minimize disruption and had looked for hotel accommodation, but availability was very limited.

The airline said customers were advised they would be reimbursed for accommodation they booked themselves.

EasyJet added that the disruption was outside its control and apologized for the difficulty caused to passengers.

The airline also said customer safety and wellbeing remained its highest priority and that it was looking into the airport experience with its ground handling provider in Tivat.
